Meghalaya Planning to Launch Nutrition Kit Scheme 2026, Nutritious Items For Mothers

The chief minister of Meghalaya is planning to launch a nutrition scheme for expecting mothers in the state. The government want to provide good maternal care for the newborn babies and ensure their health under this scheme. The chief minister, Conrad K Sangma, on 16 April, reviewed all the specs of the scheme so that they can implement the scheme as soon as possible. The government mean in is to improve the health of pregnant women and provide all the nutritional care to the newborns. The government will introduce the scheme under the Mission 1000 Days program, where they mainly focus on maternal and child nutrition.

The government provide locally sourced nutritious items to all the beneficiaries under the scheme. This is a great initiative where the government help the expecting mothers by providing adequate nutrition and health care services. The scheme is applicable from the conception of the mother until the child’s second birthday. In collaboration with PDS (public Distribution system), they will introduce the scheme all over the state and provide nutritious food to pregnant ladies. Meghalaya Nutrition Kit Scheme 2026

Pregnant women need to take proper care of themselves and eat healthy and nutritious food for the development of the baby inside the womb. There are so many economically weaker families in Meghalaya who are not able to fulfil all the nutritional needs of pregnant ladies. The government is working towards providing nutritious food items to pregnant women under PDS.

The Meghalaya government introduced the “State Mission 1000 Days” initiative with a budget of 120 crore rupees. Recently, a meeting with the food and civil supplies department of Meghalaya, with the chief minister, provided the hint that the government will start the distribution of Kits to the expecting and pregnant women in Meghalaya.

All pregnant women from the state are included under the scheme, and the government distributes the nutritional items from the first month of pregnancy till the post-pregnancy period.
