Yesterday, the Chief Minister Hemanta Bishwa Sarma announced that he will fulfil the promise to provide financial stability to the boys. The name of the scheme is ” CM Nijut Babu Asoni.

Under this initiative, all the boys who belong to the economically weaker section of the society will receive a monthly financial Grant from the state government. The undergraduate and postgraduate students who are enrolled in higher education from any government or other institutions are covered. This will help to reduce the dropout rate of boys who left their higher education due to a lack of financial stability. All the male students in the Assam state who studied in the first year of undergraduate and post-graduate courses will be able to get this help. The government offers Rs 2000 per month to each eligible student in the state. The undergraduate male students will get Rs 1000 per month, and the postgraduate male students will get 2000 per month as per the guidelines. All the underprivileged students can be included under the scheme. With the help of this financial assistant, the student can manage their monthly expenses.

This is a welfare scheme where only male students will get the benefit from the Chief Minister of Assam. The scheme officially started from 1st of February 2026. All the beneficiaries of the scheme can directly get this amount in their bank account through DBT. The government provide the education support for the undergraduate and postgraduate male students.

• The student who joined the institute and visits regularly is eligible.
• The government finalised the annual income limit to be less than 4 lakh for an eligible student.

Excluded Students

• The married males student are not eligible. 
• The students who are eligible and receive the Banikanta Kakati Merit Award are also excluded.
• CM Jibon Prerana Scheme beneficiaries are not eligible.
• The government exclude private institutions and financed courses.

Amount For Nijut Babu Asoni Scheme

Undergraduate 1st year students: Those students who are eligible and enrolled in undergraduate courses will receive Rs1000 per month for the 10 months. The government will transfer a total of Rs 10000 per academic year to these students.

Postgraduate 1st year student: These students will get Rs 2000 per month for those 10 months. In total, they will get rupees 2000 for each academic year.

• All the students are required to provide valid documents like an income certificate, ration card, and upload them carefully for the verification procedure.
• Once your information is verified by the officials, you will be able to get a monthly assistance in your bank account every month.
• This is the duty of the institution head, principal or registrar to implement this scheme in their institution and to inform the students about this welfare initiative.
