The Tamil Nadu State Government has recently made the announcement to implement ” Thaai Maaman Thanga Mothiram Scheme”. On 23rd June, the Chief Minister, Joseph Vijay, made the announcement that they will provide a 1-gram gold ring to the newborn baby born in the government hospital. This is one of the assembly election poll from is that the party had made during their election manifesto. The government has allocated around Rs 755.83 crore annually under the scheme. They have also mentioned that the TVK Thaimaman Gold Ring Scheme will be officially launched on 15 September 2026.

All the babies born from 22 June 2026 will be considered under the scheme and get a one-gram gold ring and a baby care kit from the state government. The scheme will provide more than 400000 children with the gold ring benefit in the Tamil Nadu State every year. The items like Baby Soap, Oil, Shampoo, Napkins, Diapers, Baby Powder, etc are included in the Tamil Nadu newborn baby kit.

The newborn babies born in all the government hospitals across the state will be covered under the scheme. All the mothers who have registered under pregnancy and infant monitoring and evaluation and have a reproductive and child health ID will be considered eligible for the scheme. The officials have mentioned that they will start the scheme on 15 September on the occasion of the birth anniversary of format chief minister CN Annadurai.
